Planet Wings, which was a staple in Poughkeepsie until an electrical fire forced its owners to close in 2017, was set to reopen at a new location on Monday, March 2.
However, the owners of the eateries announced they would have to push back the grand re-opening.
“To our customers: We had planned to open our new location in Poughkeepsie on Monday, but due to some unforeseen issues, we will need a couple of more days,” they wrote on Facebook. “We needed a couple more days in Poughkeepsie, but the oven is looking awesome.”
No official date for the new opening has been announced.
The latest Planet Wings restaurant joins locations throughout the Hudson Valley and New Jersey. Currently, in New York, there are locations in Ardsley, Bardonia, Haverstraw, Middletown, Newburgh, Poughkeepsie, Spring Valley, Staten Island, Wappingers Falls, and White Plains.
Plans for the restaurants have been in the works for nearly two years. Planet Wings has been designed as more of a “grab-and-go” joint, while Pizza E Birra will seat more than 100 patrons with a full bar featuring craft beers.
The restaurants are expected to create more than a dozen local jobs. They are currently accepting applications for bartenders, servers, and cooks.
